Four sisters dance ballet as they balance gracefully on the ridgepole of their New England Home under a crescent moon.  Their pastel dresses add to the dreamlike quality of the painting. Twenty years ago,  I painted this to express the feeling I had about the Mackey girls, a family of sisters who took me into their lives as a child.  I’ve always remembered the intense femininity of their environment and their personalities, and one evening as I drove under a twilight sky, I suddenly imagined them dancing in this scene.  Wherever they are, I wish I could say “Thank you, Mackey girls!”
